TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - MNC president director Hary Tanoesoedibjo is scheduled to attend police questioning at the National Police’s Criminal Investigation Corps (Bareskrim) tomorrow on Tuesday, July 4, in relation to an alleged defamation case.
“The initial investigation is scheduled to be held on July 4, [with Hary Tanoe] as a suspect,” National Police spokesman Insp. Gen. Setyo Wasisto said today.
According to Setyo, Bareskrim investigators have already sent a subpoena to Hary Tanoe.
Hary Tanoe was previously questioned by Bareskrim as a witness in relation to an alleged threat contained in a text message he sent to Head Sub-Directorate investigator Solicitor General Agung Yulianto.
Part of the text that was sent by Hary says “Yulianto, I will prove to you who’s wrong and who’s right, who the real professional is and who the thug is. You must remember that authority doesn’t last.’
The text messages were sent on January 5, 2016, continued with WhatsApp messages on January 7 and January 9, 2016, from the same contact number.
Yulianto confirmed the validity of the contact number and was assured that it belonged to Hary Tanoe. Yulianto then reported Hary Tanoe to Breskrim for allegedly violating Law No. 11 (2008) on electronic transactions and information (ITE).
Hary Tanoe denied the allegation and refused to consider his text messages as threats.
