TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Chief of National Police’s Criminal Investigation Unit Comr. Gen. Ari Dono Sukmanto denied naming MNC Group founder and media mogul Hary Tanoesoedibjo a suspect.
"I have never heard about that," Ari Dono said on Saturday (17/6).
Nevertheless, Ari said the police did not rule out the possibility of naming Hary Tanoesoedibjo a suspect. According to him, his unit needs to file a report before making this case an investigation.
"If there is enough evidence, it is highly possible (to name him a suspect)," he said.
Previously, Attorney General M. Prasetyo claimed that Hary Tanoesoedibjo has been named suspect in an alleged case of text-message threat.
"He has been identified as a suspect," he said on Friday (16/6).
Hary was reported because for allegedly sending text-message threat to the head of the sub directorate for special crimes investigation of the Attorney General's Office Yulianto on January 2016.
Until today, police have questioned 13 witnesses related to this case. The witnesses include expert witness.
Yulianto received a short message from un identified person on 5 January 2016 at around 4.30 in the afternoon. The message says:
"Mas Yulianto, we shall prove who is wrong and who is right, who is professional and who is a criminal. You need to bear in mind that power does not last long. One of the reasons I go into politics is to eradicate people in law enforcement who commit injustice, are corrupt and abuse power. Mark my words, I will be the leader of this country. When it happens, that is when Indonesia gets cleaned up."
