TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Michael Essien attended on Thursday his first training session with Persib at Lodaya training ground. The Ghanaian looked happy during the training.
Michael Essien did not seem awkward when receiving and passing the ball in the training session led personally by coach Djadjang Nurdjaman. The midfielder put the ball past goalkeeper I Made Wirawan several times during shooting practice.
The player who wears No. 5 jersey was received well by the fans, known as Bobotoh. Thousands of Bobotoh chanted his name and clapped when the Maung Bandung squad arrived at the training ground.
“I’m pleased; the first training session runs well. It’s hot, [I] need some time to adapt,” Michael Essien said after the training.
Persib new signing Carlton Cole was not seen in yesterday’s training session. Cole, Essien’s former teammate at Chelsea, has not secured his stay permit.
