ASEAN Pharmaceutical Industry Exhibition to be Held in Jakarta

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta International Expo Kemayoran will hold Southeast Asia's Convention on Pharmaceutical Ingredients of 2017 on March 22-24. The exhibition, which will mark its sixth event this year, is a venue for pharmaceutical industries, medicine suppliers, packaging, and health tools from across the globe to reach the Southeast Asian market.
Ivan Ferrari, the General Manager of PT UBM Pameran Niaga Indonesia and the event organizer of the exhibition, stated that Indonesia is one of Asia’s fastest growing pharmaceutical market. “Which is why we held the CPhl Southeast Asia as a trusted platform in order to broaden the network for local and international pharmaceutical industries,” Ferrari said on Thursday, March 16, 2017.
Ivan said that Indonesia’s pharmaceutical market average growth is 20.6 percent each year throughout 2011-2016. There are currently 239 pharmaceutical companies operating in Indonesia. Spread throughout a number of regions; 39 percent in West Java, 20 percent in East Java, and 15 percent in Jakarta.
Based on the data provided by the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM), investments realizations at the fourth quarter of 2016 is dominated by basic chemical industries, chemical based products, and pharmacies are worth Rp 12.9 trillion. Meanwhile, foreign investments in the same segment reached US$ 0,7 billion.
General Manager for Quintiles IMS Indonesia, Wiwy Sasongko, stated that Indonesia's pharmaceutical industry is experiencing a positive growth throughout the last couple of years. This is proven by Indonesia’s achievement in becoming ASEAN’s largest pharmaceutical industry, which translates to roughly 27 percent of ASEAN’s total pharmaceutical industry.
