TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Media company MNC Group has managed to control more than 35 percent of the television advertising market worth Rp. 72.5 trillion in 2015. Data collected by Adstensity, a television advertising monitoring company, showed that MNC Group, which consists three major television companies: RCTI, Global TV, and MNC TV, had booked a total revenue of Rp. 25 trillion from advertising alone.
Adstensity CEO Sapto Anggoro said that RCTI dominated the advertising market with a total of Rp. 11.1 trillion of advertising revenue in 2015. "RCTI's average monthly income reached up to Rp. 900 billion," Sapto said on Tuesday, January 5, 2016.
Meanwhile, SCTV managed to book a total advertising revenue of Rp. 9.6 trillion with an average monthly revenue of Rp. 805 billion, followed by MNC TV with Rp. 8.6 trillion, averaging at Rp. 723 billion per month. State-owned television company TVRI sits on the last position with Rp. 53 billion of advertising revenue.
In 2015, television companies' advertising spending had experienced a 26.7 percent decrease from the previous Rp. 99 trillion to Rp. 72.5 trillion as a result of the economic slowdown.
