TEMPO.CO, Jakarta-The construction of a new airport in Kulon Progo, Yogyakarta, by PT Angkasa Pura I is set to finish in 2020. “Yogyakarta Adminstration has received formal letter of court verdict to be reported to Angkasa Pura I and the House for mapping purpose,” said secretary of PT Angkasa Pura I, Farid Indra Nugraha, on Thursday, October 15.
Farid said that the airport will be connected to toll road and railroad. The new airport is deemed essential as Adi Sucipto airport is relatively small; therefore the city needs a bigger airport.
Previously, the City Administration was set to proceed as the Supreme Court annulled the Civil State Court ruling that had cancelled the new airport permit. The airport construction will then proceed, amid opposing locals.
The people of Kulonprogro, representing themselves under the banner of Wahana Tri Tunggal (WTT) group, has filed another material test on District Spatial Planning to the Supreme Court.
