No Politics and Business for Soldiers: Military Commander

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian Military Commander Gen. Gatot Nurmantyo called on soldiers assigned across the country to become professional soldiers.
“Soldiers are well-trained, well-educated, well-prepared, not involved in politics and business, and their welfare are guaranteed,” Gen. Gatot said in a press conference after commemorating the 70th anniversary of the Indonesian Military at the Military Headquarter in Cilangkap, East Jakarta, on Sunday, October 04, 2015.
Gatot said that Indonesian Military personnel must follow state political policies and comply with national and international laws. According to Gatot, it is is an important and proud moment for the Indonesian Military.
“We have successfully conducted internal reform both in ritual cultural,” he said.
Despite being imperfect, Gatot said that country should be proud with its military capacity. Attending the press conference were Navy Chief of Staff Ade Supandi, Army Chief of Staff General Mulyono, and Air Force Chief of Staff Marshall Agus Supriatna.
During the press conference, Gatot also invited the public to watch the commemoration of the 70th anniversary of the Indonesian Military on Monday, October 5, 2015, at the Indah Kiat Port, Banten. President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo has been scheduled to act as the inspector of the ceremony.
