TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Attorney General M. Prasetyo demanded President Soeharto’s heirs to pay Supersemar Foundation fine of Rp4.4 trillion to the state.  The obligation to pay the fine is an order from the decision of the Judicial Review over the misuse of Supersemar scholarship funds with the defendant Soeharto.

“The heir also enjoys it.  That’s corruption, the heir can be asked for the money,” Prasetyo said after Friday prayer in the Attorney General’s Office on Friday, Sept 25.

Previously, Soeharto’s daughter Siti Hediati Hariyadi aka Titik Soeharto, said her family will not pay the fine.  Titiek says the Cendana family is not obliged to pay the fine for there is no written demands that mentions Soeharto or his family must pay the fine.

Prasetyo requested the Soeharto family to voluntarily pay the fine as good gesture.  If not, Prasetyo will fully handover the case to the South Jakarta District Court to enforce confiscation of the family’s assets.

The Attorney General, is currently completing the administrative requirements to implement the decision.  The assets of Supersemar Foundation has partially been recorded by the Attorney General team.
