TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - As many as 36,863 people will return to the capital by train the third day after Eid, or Monday, July 21, 2015, arriving at Pasar Senen, Gambir and Jatinegara.
“We predict the homecoming traffic will decrease from [Tuesday] and the reverse flow will start,” said Operation Region I, PT Kereta Api Indonesia (PT KAI) spokesman Bambang S. Prayitno to Tempo, Tuesday, July 22, 2015.
Bambang predicted homecoming traffic will sustain until one week after Eid. He added that next weekend will be the reverse flow peak for the train traffic.
Tempo observed on Monday, Pasar Senen station and Gambir stations are fully packed with travellers it was difficult to move around.
“I travel from Cirebon with the additional train, departing at 12:30pm and arriving here are 3:30pm, there are no delays,” said Elis Rusmiyati, 23, when contacted after arriving at Gambir station.
“With 100 percent occupancy, we predict there will be 36,772 passengers travelling to Jakarta with 54 regular trains, 12 additional trains and 5 standby trains,” said Bambang.
