TEMPO.CO, Kupang – The Regional Representatives Council (DPD) kicks off today the construction of its so-called aspiration building on Jl. Polisi Militer in East Nusa Tenggara’s (NTT) capital of Kupang.
“The construction fund for the three-story building is Rp21 billion,” said DPD sec-gen Sudarsono Hardjosoekarso in the construction’s groundbreaking ceremony in Kupang on Wednesday, June 10, 2015.
The building is erected on a 2,100 sqm land plot and its construction is projected for completion in seven months. Sudarsono said the building was DPD’s second aspiration building. “Previously, we built a DPD building in Palembang,” he said.
He added similar buildings would be constructed nationwide, with the third one planned for Yogyakarta and the fourth in West Kalimantan. “These buildings will be used by DPD councilors from their respective electoral districts,” he said.
DPD speaker Irman Goesman said the existence of this building was aimed at supporting the development of the country’s eastern parts and absorbing the aspirations of NTT people so the DPD could fight for them in the central government.
“All of the people’s aspirations can be conveyed to DPD councilors from NTT who use this building,” he said.
