TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Foreign investors attending the World Economic Forum on East Asia (WEF EA) viewed Indonesia as the best place for investment, Coordinating Economic Minister Sofyan Djalil said on the sideline of the WEF EA event on Tuesday, April 21, 2015 in Jakarta.
Such optimism was expressed after the Indonesian government elaborated its domestic policies before the investors.
"All parties have been involved in discussions. The President has delivered speech, and ministers have performed their presentations to explain the existing policies," Sofyan said.
Sofyan added that India is an alternative choice other than Indonesia, and the WEF EA was viewed as a good forum to explain about the situation in Indonesia. According to Sofyan, Indonesia has shown good performance in terms of investment, despite some drawbacks related to communication with investors.
"We can see that they are interested in investing [in Indonesia]. But there are several questions about regulations and requests to clarify other things. The business owners saw opportunities in Indonesia," Sofyan added.
Indonesia held the 24th World Economic Forum on East Asia under the theme of "Anchoring Trust in East Asia's New Regionalism" on April 19-21, 2015. Attending the forum were CEOs, scholars and world leaders from around the world.
