TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Financial Transaction Report and Analysis Center (PPATK) is currently probing 3,100 delinquent tax payers reported by the Financial Ministry’s Taxation Directorate General. To date, the PPATK has found 120 large taxpayers whose total tax arrears amounted to Rp15 trillion (US$1.25 billion).
“The government sets a high target of tax revenue this year, and PPATK would like to contribute,” PPATK chairman Muhammad Yusuf said at Supreme Audit Agency (BPK) office on Tuesday, February 24, 2015.
In addition to the 3,100 large taxpayers, the PPATK has also asked data of 10 big corporate taxpayers to trace their tax payments. Yusuf said the number may increase after the Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Ministry submitted additional data linked to poachers.
The government has set a target to achieve Rp1.484 trillion in tax revenue in the Revised State Budget for 2015 fiscal year. To achieve the target, the Taxation Directorate General also imposed gizjeling—taking tax evaders as hostages—on nine delinquent taxpayers.
