TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Jakarta Police have extended the arrest time for two Jakarta International School (JIS) teachers who have been suspected of molesting the school's kindergarten students. The extension is carried out because they have not finished investigating the suspects' files.
Jakarta Police spokesman Sr. Comr. Rikwanto said yesterday was the end of their arrest. “With this extension, investigators can arrest them for the next 20 days,” he said, Saturday, September 13.
The two aforementioned teachers are Neil Bantleman and Ferdinant Tjiong. They have been set as suspects and have been arrested since July 14, 2014. The investigators extended their arrest for 40 days on August 2. Their arrest ended on September 22, and once again extended until October 2.
The police have to extend the arrest time because their investigators are attempting to collect additional information from a number of witnesses. Previously the investigators have handed in the files to the court, however they were returned because they were deemed incomplete.
