TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Ivorian striker Didier Drogba is returning to Chelsea from Galatasaray after signing a one-year contract with The Blues. The 36-year-old was one of the pillars when the club won 10 titles during 2004-2012.
"It was an easy decision - I couldn't turn down the opportunity to work with Jose [Mourinho] again. Everyone knows the special relationship I have with this club and it has always felt like home to me," said Drogba as quoted by BBC.
"My desire to win is still the same and I look forward to the opportunity to help this team. I am excited for this next chapter of my career."
Chelsea boss Mourinho, however, reinforced that the decision to bring back Drogba has nothing to do with emotional reason. "He's coming because he's one of the best strikers in Europe," said the Portuguese.
"I know his personality very well and I know if he comes back he's not protected by history or what he's done for this club previously. He is coming with the mentality to make more history."
Mou bought Drogba from Marseille for 24million poundsterling in 2004. Drogba assisted the squad to win four FA Cup, three Premier League titles, two League Cup and Champions League.
