TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - General Election Commission (KPU) chief Husni Kamil Manik said the announcement of the presidential election results that was initially scheduled at 4 p.m. today had been postponed to 8 p.m. According to Husni, it would take time to issue a decree regarding the election results.
“I declare that the vote recapitulation has been completed. The meeting is adjourned within the next two hours,” Husni said at KPU building on Tuesday, July 22, 2014.
Husni explained that the KPU would announce the results despite the absence of one of the candidates’ witnesses. According to Husni, KPU has fulfilled its obligation to invite witnesses from both camps.
“Nothing can stop the decision,” Husni said.
Earlier, delayed vote recapitulation in North Maluku, Jakarta, Papua, East Java and overseas had been completed. Husni said the results would be officially published as being discussed with and recommended by witnesses, the Election Supervisory Body (Bawaslu), provincial Bawaslu, provincial KPU and observers who attended the meeting.
