TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Bank Indonesia's (BI) Department of Communications confirmed that pictures of the new Rupiah banknotes design recently circulated in the social media is not the same with the official design.

"The [circulated] pictures are not the ones that are going to be printed," BI stated in a press release on Monday, June 23, 2014.

BI explained that the official design that is going to be printed will include a Garuda Pancasila logo with the phrase "Negara Kesatuan Republik Indonesia", year of issuance, printing numbers, and serial numbers.

In addition, the new banknotes will also include the signature of the Minister of Finance right next to the signature of BI Governor.

BI plans to launch new Rp 100,000 banknotes on August 17. There will be no redenomination because the regulation on redenomination of Rupiah is still being mulled by the House of Representatives.
