Jokowi Visits Banyuwangi to Distribute Land Certificates

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko Widodo or Jokowi embarked on a working visit to Banyuwangi Regency in East Java on Tuesday, April 30. He and the entourage took off at around 13:20 Jakarta time, using the Indonesian Presidential aircraft-1 from Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base in Jakarta.

Upon arrival at Banyuwangi International Airport, the former mayor of Solo proceeded directly to Tawang Alun Sports Hall to hand over electronic land certificates resulting from the land redistribution program.

State officials accompanying the President on the flight to Banyuwangi were Public Works and Housing Minister Basuki Hadimuljono, Administrative and Bureaucratic Reform Minister Abdullah Azwar Anas Abdullah Azwar Anas, Military Secretary to the President Major General Rudy Saladin, President’s Security Detail (Paspampres) Commander Major General Achiruddin, and Acting Deputy for Protocol, Press, and Media of the Presidential Secretariat M. Yusuf Permana.

Jokowi expressed his optimistic outlook that the distribution of land certificates could be accelerated with digitalization and that the land redistribution program would be completed by next year. Out of a total of 126 million certificates, there are still approximately 3-6 million certificates left to be distributed. 

Today, the President handed over 10,300 land certificates, marking the largest number of certificates that he has distributed thus far.

According to him, e-certificates would simplify the process of completing land redistribution. Additionally, he received a report from the Minister of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning and the National Land Agency head, Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY), that the land mafia is declining as many residents have obtained their certificates.

The government hoped that the certified lands could be used productively. If the certificate is used as loan collateral, Jokowi suggests that the public use it for productive businesses.
