TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Commuter train operator, PT Kereta Commuter Jabodetabek, expected the Transportation Ministry to finish the Manggarai-Bekasi double-double track project. President director of Commuter Train, Tri Handoyo, said the project can be a solution delayed train issues.
"Train trips are often delayed because tracks are used collectively," Tri said at Sudirman Station earlier today.
According to Tri, one of the causes of the delay is that intercity trains often break down. When the trains are fixed, the intercity trains would be prioritized and disrupt electricity train schedule. Tri said the Bekasi-Jakarta route is prone to delay whenever an intercity train breaks down. Therefore, double-double track should be built to serve Bekasi-Manggarai route.
"In cities of other countries, electric train tracks are free from other trains because the trips and schedules of this train are very congested and need particular management," Tri said.
Tri ensured that the 18-kilometer double-double track would improve the electric train schedule because intercity trains would use different tracks. But Tri said he could not confirm when the project would be started, as it is the Transportation Ministry’s authority.
