TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian Airforce is about to finish infrastructure construction projects, including hangar, shelter, and taxi way construction for the donated F-16 fighter jets from the United States. General Operational Commander of the First Airforce Muhammad Syaugi, stated that the Air Squadron 16 in Pekanbaru, Riau, is ready to receive the legendary fighter jets.
Syaugi stated that Indonesia will receive 24 US F-16 fighter jets in total. He added that 16 of the fighter jets will set home in Pekanbaru, while eight other units will set home in Iswahyudi Airfield, Madiun, East Java.
Syaugi, who is a former fighter jet pilot, ensured that the jets are already equipped with armament such as missiles. Moreover, the F-16 is expected to be able to help secure Indonesian territory.
