TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Chairwoman of the Indonesia Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P) Megawati Soekarnoputri asserted her prerogative right to put forth the party's presidential candidate, despite the uprising notion, 'Jokowi for President.' She also reiterated that the presidential candidacy will take place after the legislative election, asking all elements to remain patient.
She mentioned that nominating a presidential candidate is not an easy job, which requires calculated and detailed analysis. "Candidates with ordinary traits will only disadvantage us," she said.
Megawati suggested that all cadres not plunge into the main stream and urge the party to propose a candidate, but instead focus on the April election. "We must be able to reach 20 percent of presidential threshold," she said.
