TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesia managed to catch up with Egypt's position in gaining medals in the Islamic Solidarity Games (ISG) III, Palembang, as national weightlifters delivered three precious and important gold medals.
Indonesia has now collected six gold medals, one silver, and 11 bronze medals. Indonesia's position is now only one gold medal away from Egypt. Novi Haryanto at ISG Media Services said that Indonesia also secured another gold medal from the Karate competition. He said that the chances for Indonesia to gain more medals are open in today's games.
Weightlifting athlete Okta Dwi Pramita delivered gold medal in the 58-kilogram class, following the success of lifter Sri Wahyuni and Agustina Citra Febrianti.
Indonesian Sports Committee Chief Rita Subowo stated her optimism that Indonesia can meet the target of top 10 gold medalists' nations. "This is a good start for us," she added.
