TEMPO.CO, Bangkok – World Association of Newspapers and News Publishers (WAN-IFRA) is certain that the press industry will never fade away, despite the domination of Internet. Jacob Mathew, President of WAN-IFRA released such statement during the opening of The 65th World Newspaper Congress in Bangkok, Thailand on Monday, June 3.
Mathew admitted that advertisement using conventional media, including printed media will decrease because today, most media have incorporated digital systems in addition to conventional printing.
Kittiran Na Ranong, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, supported Mathew's statement and stated that newspapers will remain as an integral part of life. In Thailand, with 66 million citizens and massive invasion from internet, he said "newspaper is still essential."
