INP Chief Nominees Leaked, Kompolnas Files Protest to Komnas HAM

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - M. Nasser, the commissioner of National Police Commission (Kompolnas), demurred National Commission of Human Rights' (Komnas HAM) maneuver on distributing Kompolnas request on the study of possible Human Rights violations related to candidates of INP (National Police) Chief.
"The objection was due to the fact that the request of the studies filed by Kompolnas was conducted privately," said Nasser on his short message to TEMPO, Friday, June 31.
Previously, Nasser stated that the Commission requested a track record of each nominee in relation to any possible involvements on Human Rights violations. In doing so, Komnas HAM then had to request media assistance to track their backgrounds. This was led to Kompolnas' accusation of leakage.
"Komnas HAM has no right to reveal and expose the request publicly," said Nasser in his short message. Nasser also suggested that the media didn't broadcast the news spread by Komnas HAM.
Deputy Chief of Komnas HAM, Imdadun Rahmat in fact claimed that they have not received Kompolnas' request regarding the Human Rights violation records on those nominees.
Imdadun said there are rules and mechanism of filing reports or complaints to Komnas HAM, adding that the investigation on the nominees has yet to be conducted.
