TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian Ministry of Transportation has reinstated the mandatory use of the SatuSehat mobile app for passengers traveling internationally. The policy was set after the World Health Organization (WHO) declared monkeypox (Mpox) a public health emergency of international concern on August 14.
Maria Kristi Endah Murni, the Ministry's Director General of Air Transportation, issued a Circular Letter of the Director General of Air Transportation No. SE 5 DJPU of 2024 to confirm the measure. The use of the SatuSehat Health Pass for overseas travel is valid from August 27.
"Foreign travelers flying to Indonesia fill out an electronic self-declaration form called the SATUSEHAT Health Pass," Kristi said in a written statement on Wednesday, August 28.
Kristi said she has also communicated with airlines, especially those operating flights to and from Indonesia. Aviation companies are requested to disseminate information to flight personnel and passengers about the SatuSehat electronic self-declaration form. Completion of the form is mandatory at the airport of departure. The circular from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation also provides guidelines for international aviation authorities to implement prevention and handling of Mpox transmission at airports.
Airport authorities in Indonesia are also asked to coordinate with the Health Quarantine Center to prevent Mpox transmission at airports. This coordination is also needed for the treatment of passengers suspected of being infected with monkeypox before entering the international arrival gate.
"I have instructed the Director of Aviation Security and the Head of the Airport Authority Office to oversee the implementation of this circular," said Kristi.
The SatuSehat app was formerly called PeduliLindungi, a digital-based health information service, which then changed versions on March 1, 2023. The PeduliLindungi app was used to provide news about mitigating the spread of Covid-19. The digital service also stored Covid vaccination history, which was a requirement for international travel during the pandemic.
