Jokowi Urges Cabinet to Support Prabowo Subianto's Program

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo has called upon members of the Advanced Indonesia Cabinet to actively support the incoming administration led by President-elect Prabowo Subianto. He aims to ensure a smooth and efficient transition of power.
“We must all fully support this transition and ensure that it proceeds effectively,” Jokowi stated during a Cabinet Meeting held at the Garuda Palace, the Nusantara capital (IKN), East Kalimantan, on Friday, September 13, 2024, as quoted from a live broadcast by the Presidential Secretariat.
He emphasized that cabinet members should promptly implement any necessary regulations or policy formulations, particularly those related to Prabowo's flagship programs. “So after being inaugurated, the new government can immediately work and run fast,” he said in the meeting which was also attended by Prabowo.
Prabowo and Gibran Rakabuming Raka, Jokowi's eldest son, were elected as president and vice president for the 2024-2029 term. While they did not formally establish a transition team, Prabowo formed a Synchronization Task Force Team to serve a similar purpose. Most members of this task force hail from the Gerindra Party.
When Jokowi was paired with Jusuf Kalla in 2014, they formed a government transition team tasked with formulating steps to realize their shared vision, mission, and promises.
Although Prabowo did not create a transition team, President Jokowi accommodated many of Prabowo's interests during the final months of his administration. For instance, Jokowi appointed several Prabowo loyalists to join the Advanced Indonesia Cabinet, including Thomas Djiwandono, Supratman Andi Agtas, and Sudaryono. These individuals are believed to have served as "interns" in Jokowi's government, gaining valuable experience for Prabowo's future administration.
Jokowi also established the National Nutrition Agency on August 19, 2024. Led by Dadan Hindayana, this agency will implement a free nutritious meal program, a campaign promise of Prabowo-Gibran during the 2024 Presidential Election.
