TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Scoot Airline is launching a flight route from West Java International Airport (BIJB) in Majalengka to Singapore on September 28, 2024. “Hopefully, Scoot’s entry to Kertajati Airport will become the airport’s rising moment considering its top-notch facilities,” said Kertajati Airport Director, Muhammad Singgih, in a written statement on Tuesday, August 27, 2024.
Singgih said the are promo ticket offers for the first Scoot flight to Singapore. The tickets are priced at Rp450,000 and available for reservation since August 6, 2024.
Kertajati Airport also offers 3,014 free shuttle tickets heading to and from the airport. Scoot prepares around 1,360 of the free shuttle tickets that will be available until December 2024. The free shuttle service requires passengers to show their boarding pass or plane ticket from and to Kertajati Airport.
The Majalengka-Singapore route will be Kertajati Airport’s second international route after Kuala Lumpur. According to Singgih, these routes are expected to become the starting point of direct flights to various destinations worldwide from Kertajati Airport.
“Hopefully, with the arrival of Scoot, we could then launch Umrah flights and direct flights to the Middle East,” he says.
Singgih claims Kertajati Airport has a good track record since it was used for embarkation and debarkation points for this year’s Hajj season. He also hopes the international flight routes could boost tourism to Pantura regions such as Cirebon, Majalengka, Kuningan, and Indramayu.
The head of the West Java Tourism and Cultural Office Benny Bachtiar said Kertajati Airport is expected to boost connectivity of West Java and Central Java, especially around the Pantura region.
Kertajati Airport, he said, is also supported by the existence of the Trans Java Toll Road that facilitates residents of Central Java to reach the airport. “It’s easier for those who seek to travel to Singapore,” he said.
