TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian Tourism and Creative Economy Minister Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno met with Poland Minister of Culture and National Heritage Hanna Wróblewska to discuss best practices in Poland's game development, especially game exporters.

The two met in Warsaw, Poland, on August 23, 2024.

In a statement from his office on Saturday, August 24, 2024, Uno mentioned Poland's success in becoming the largest game exporter in Europe, especially for game products spreading Polish cultural content.

"We learn from Poland regarding the programs run by the Polish government as a benchmark for Indonesia," he stated.

Quoting from the statement, the Polish Ministry of Culture and National Heritage is responsible for preserving national heritage and promoting Polish culture. This ministry also develops programs in the digitalization sector, especially to promote Polish culture through literature, design, visual arts, music, and film including the game industry.

Therefore, several game companies in Poland have received financial support for developing the Polish game industry by integrating cultural elements with concrete results in the games industry such as The Witcher series, CyberPunk 2077, and others, Uno said.

Uno also proposed a comparative study for a deeper understanding regarding the development of the game industry that integrates cultural elements, as well as the development of game studio capacity.

He then invited the Polish counterpart and its game industry to invest in the Indonesian game industry, especially utilizing the ICCF (Indonesia Creative Content Fund) which is currently being prepared.

"We hope Poland cares to provide support to conduct business missions to Indonesia to attend game events and business matching," he noted.

Poland can also observe the development of the game industry in Indonesia or conducting training programs, he added.
