Indonesian Govt Clears 3 Vietnamese Companies for Lobster Cultivation

24 July 2024 09:21 WIB

TEMPO.CO, JakartaThe Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries stated that five Vietnamese companies are collaborating with Indonesian companies in the cultivation and export of clear lobster seeds.

This was conveyed by the Director General of Capture Fisheries, Tb. Haeru Rahayu. He said the five companies formed limited liability companies in Indonesia.

"Three companies have been verified and received certificates of lobster cultivation (permit) from the Directorate General of Aquaculture," said Haeru via messaging application to Tempo, on Tuesday, July 23, 2024. Thus, the three companies are now able to cultivate lobster domestically and abroad.

"Meanwhile, two other companies are still in the process of re-submitting verification regarding lobster cultivation activities," he said. Previously, Haeru said that only three companies had signed cooperation agreements with the ministry’s Public Service Agency.

Haeru, however, did not provide details about the five Vietnamese. Previously, Tempo Magazine reported that the five companies were Aquagreen Trading Company Limited, Phu Gia Long Trading Joint Stock Company, Ichika Joint Stock Company, The Global Trading Company Limited, and New World Seafood Trading Import Export Aquaculture Company Limited.

This company formed five limited liability companies in Indonesia, namely PT Mutagreen Aquaculture International, PT Ratuworld Aquaculture International, PT Gajaya Aquaculture International, PT Idovin Aquaculture International, and PT Idichi Aquaculture International.

The information was conveyed by Doni Ismanto, Special Assistant to the Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries for Media and Public Communication, on Thursday, July 18, 2024. Of the five companies, only three companies have obtained permits for overseas cultivation and export.

The three companies are Mutagreen Aquaculture International, Ratuworld Aquaculture International, and Gajaya Aquaculture International.

Furthermore, Haeru did not explain how much lobster quota would be cultivated by the permitted companies. However, he explained that determining the clear lobster seed quota must refer to the Decree of the Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Number 28 of 2024.

"In principle, the quota is determined by referring to the estimated clear lobster seed potential and the number of catches allowed in each fisheries management area," said Haeru, stating that it’s done to sustain clear lobster seed resources. The data can be accessed through the ministry’s official website or Project Management Office 724 (PMO-724).
