TEMPO.CO, JakartaThe Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) named two new suspects in the alleged corruption of Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) procurement at Pertamina for the 2011-2021 fiscal year.

"The two suspects are state administrators with the initials HK and YA," said KPK spokesperson Tessa Mahardhika at KPK Red Building, South Jakarta, on Tuesday, July 2, 2024.

Tessa said the unlawful acts committed by the suspects would be announced when the investigation is deemed sufficient. Authorities are currently summoning witnesses while continuing to develop their investigation to explore the possibility of other suspects in the US$113 million corruption case.

According to Tessa, the expansion of this case is a continuation and is inseparable from the investigation against Karen Agustiawan. The former Pertamina CEO was found guilty in the LNG corruption case.

The Senior KPK investigator also appreciated the judge's decision against Karen, albeit regretting that Karen’s conflict of interest was not included in the judge's consideration. KPK hopes that appellate judges can take a comprehensive look at this case. Additionally, KPK is currently studying four other LNG procurement cases.
