TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has congratulated Prabowo Subianto on his victory in Indonesia's 2024 presidential election.
"I have contacted the elected President of the Republic of Indonesia, His Excellency Mr. Prabowo Subianto, to extend my congratulations on his success in the recently concluded Indonesian Presidential Election," Anwar said in a post on his social media account on Thursday, March 21, 2024.
Anwar said he was informed that he was the first leader to congratulate Prabowo after the official announcement of the election results by the General Elections Commission (KPU).
It was quite meaningful as it symbolized the very special value of Malaysia and Indonesia's friendship as close and important neighbors, Anwar said.
