Prabowo Subianto Welcomes Election Results; Calls for Unity

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Presidential candidate from the Onward Indonesia Coalition Prabowo Subianto has welcomed the results of the general elections, including the 2024 presidential election, as determined by the General Elections Commission (KPU). Prabowo conveyed a message of unity despite the different choices during the election process.
Prabowo made the statement at Kertanegara House, Kebayoran Baru, South Jakarta, on Wednesday evening, March 20, 2024. On this occasion, Prabowo was accompanied by supporting party officials such as Golkar Party Chairman Airlangga Hartarto, Democratic Party Chairman Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono, National Mandate Party Chairman Zulkifli Hasan, Crescent Star Party Chairman Yusril Ihza Mahendra, and Indonesian Solidarity Party Chairman Kaesang Pangarep.
"We respect differences in opinion. But we must seek unity," Prabowo said.
The former Army chief said Indonesia had been divided by imperialists and colonialists for a long time. Prabowo declared he and Gibran Rakabuming Raka were elected with the mandate of the Indonesian people. "We will be the president and vice president of the Indonesian people," he said.
Prabowo then expressed his gratitude to his teams and volunteers. He also praised the smooth running of the entire election process, appreciating the police and army.
On Wednesday evening, KPU ratified the results of the national vote recapitulation of the 2024 presidential election in all provinces. As a result, KPU declared running pair number 2 Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming as the winner in the elections, leading ahead of two rival candidates Anies-Muhaimin and Ganjar-Mahfud.
Prabowo-Gibran won in 36 provinces out of a total of 38 provinces. Meanwhile, Anies-Muhaimin won in two provinces, Aceh and West Sumatra. Ganjar-Mahfud did not win a single province.
Based on the vote recapitulation data, Prabowo-Gibran acquired 96,214,691 votes, or 58.59 percent of the voters. Then, in second place is the Anies-Muhaimin with 40,971,908 votes. Meanwhile, Ganjar-Mahfud won 27,040,878 votes. The total number of voters in the 2024 general elections is 164,227,475 people.
