KPU Declares Prabowo Winner of Presidential Election With 96 Mn Votes

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The General Elections Commission (KPU) has officially declared Prabowo Subianto and Gibran Rakabuming Raka the winners of the 2024 presidential election. This announcement was made during an open plenary meeting on the election results at the KPU headquarters in Jakarta on March 20.
KPU chairman Hasyim Asy'ari said that the decision was noted in the KPU Decree No. 360 of 2024 on the determination of the president and vice president, DPR, DPD, Provincial DPRD, and Regency/City DPRD in 2024.
Based on the final vote tally, the Prabowo-Gibran pair secured an overwhelming 96,214,691 votes, far surpassing their two rivals, Anies Baswedan-Muhaimin Iskandar who garnered 40,971,906 votes, and Ganjar Pranowo-Mahfud Md who obtained 27,040,878 votes.
Prabowo-Gibran emerged victorious in 36 out of 38 provinces, while the remaining two provinces, Aceh and West Sumatra, were won by candidate pair number 1 Anies-Muhaimin. Meanwhile, Ganjar-Mahfud failed to secure a single province.
The national valid votes for the February 14 presidential election amounted to 164,227,475.
After the announcement of this vote recapitulation, the KPU said the election participants could challenge the election results at the Constitutional Court (MK) within three days of the announcement in accordance with the prevailing regulations.
If there is no legal challenge, the KPU will officially name Prabowo Subianto and Gibran Rakabuming Raka elected as president and vice president for the 2024-2029 period on March 23, 2024.
