BMKG Weather Forecast: Downpour to Cover Most of Indonesia Today

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency or BMKG mentioned that nearly all provinces in Indonesia will potentially have a downpour today, Thursday, Feb. 29, 2024.
In an early warning report quoted from BMKG’s official website in Jakarta, heavy rains are forecasted to pour over Aceh, North Sumatra, West Sumatra, Bengkulu, Jambi, South Sumatra, Bangka Belitung Islands, Lampung, Banten, West Java, Central Java, Yogyakarta, East Java, NTB, and NTT.
BMKG also forecasted a downpour to drench West Kalimantan, Central Kalimantan, North Kalimantan, East Kalimantan, South Kalimantan, North Sulawesi, Gorontalo, Central Sulawesi, Southeast Sulawesi, Maluku, West Papua and Papua.
Meanwhile, a drizzle will greet Jakarta, Bali, and South Sulawesi.
Heavy rain with lightning will potentially hit Jambi, Pontianak, Banjarmasin, Tarakan, Pangkal Pinang, Kupang, Manado, and Palembang. Medium rain has the potential to occur in Denpasar, Bandung, Bandar Lampung, and Medan.
Specifically for Jakarta, medium rain is forecasted to hit South Jakarta and East Jakarta this afternoon. In contrast, light rain will drizzle over West Jakarta, Central Jakarta, North Jakarta, and Seribu Islands in the morning and evening.
In Greater Jakarta, BMKG announced that a downpour will likely hit Bekasi, while a drizzle will greet Depok. Tangerang will remain cloudy.
BMKG also warned several provinces of heavy rain consequences such as flooding, namely Aceh, West Sumatra, South Sumatra, Bengkulu, Lampung, Jakarta, West Java, Central Java, Yogyakarta, East Java, Banten, West Kalimantan, Central Kalimantan, South Kalimantan, East Kalimantan, North Kalimantan, South Sulawesi and Papua.
