TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Supervisory Council of Corruption Eradication Commission or KPK will commence its ethical hearing for Firli Bahuri today, Thursday, Dec. 14, 2023.
KPK Council member Syamsuddin Haris confirmed that the ethical hearing will be closed to the public. "In accordance with the KPK Supervisory Council regulation, the ethical hearing will be closed to the public," he told Tempo on Thursday morning.
Earlier, the council head Tumpak Hatorangan Panggabean mentioned three reports received by the KPK Council against Firli. The first one was related to his meeting with former Minister of Agriculture Syahrul Yasin Limpo.
The second report concerned his unreported wealth on the State Official Wealth Report of LHKPN, and the last one concerned the rented house in Jl. Kartanegara 46, Kebayoran Baru, South Jakarta.
The council aims to close this case before Christmas, according to Tumpak. "We will try to finish this case by the end of this year, hopefully before Christmas," he said last Friday.
Firli Bahuri was reported to the KPK supervisory council by a Student for Law Committee at the beginning of October 2023. The committee believed Firli violated the ethics code by meeting the former Minister of Agriculture Syahrul Yasin Limpo, the suspect in a corruption case.
The report was submitted after photographic evidence of the alleged meeting was discovered. Firli was also accused of extorting the former minister, an allegation he vehemently denied.
"I have never extorted anyone, and I have never been involved in bribery and gratification with anyone," Firli Bahuri claimed.
Meanwhile, the KPK supervisory council explained that Firli allegedly breached Article 4 (2)(A) or Article 4 (1)(J) and Article 8 (E) of the KPK COunil Regulation No. 3 of 2021 on the ethics code.
