TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The management of the Light Rail Transit or LRT Jabodebek confirmed that the train connecting the capital city of Jakarta and its neighbors suddenly stopped in front of Saidah Tower in South Jakarta, this morning, Nov. 1. The automatic train breakdown buzzed social media as an Instagram account @infocibubur._ posted a video showing the situation inside the stopped train.
“The train stopped this morning due to a power trip (loss of power to the train),” the LRT Jabodebek’s PR Manager Kuswardoyo said in a WhatsApp text today.
He claimed that the power loss stopped the train for about three minutes. “Then [we] carried out [power] reactivation to resume the train operation.”
He also said that the incident did not disrupt the trip schedule. “We are still arranging the peak hours and non-peak hours (10 a.m. – 3 p.m.). The complete schedule is published in the Instagram Story of @lrt_jabodebek,” he added.
An Instagram account presenting the latest information in Cibubur and its surrounding areas, @infocibubur._, uploaded a video sent by one of the train passengers. The caption reported that at 8:23 a.m., LRT Jabodebek of Cibubur-Dukuh Atas Line made a stop amid the trip in front of the Saidah Tower in South Jakarta.
“Before stopping, there was a sound of something hitting the trails, then the lights and AC went out as if it lost power to operate and slowly stopped before the Saidah Tower,” the account said. The video showed that the LRT Jabodebek was quite crowded, but people seemed calm and did not panic.
