TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The world-renowned contemporary artist Brian Donnelly or popularly known as KAWS proceeds with the KAWS:HOLIDAY world tour series to Indonesia in tandem with his long-time collaborator, a Hong Kong-based creative studio AllRightReserved.
The worldwide exhibition tour was first introduced in 2018 in Seoul before making its way to Taipei, Hong Kong, Tokyo, Bristol, Singapore, Changbai Mountain, Melbourne, and even up into the Stratosphere.
This tenth stop will be made in the complex of Prambanan Temple, the UNESCO World Heritage site.
The wildly popular show will be available on August 19 to 31, 2023, presenting the monumental 45-meter-long sculpture ‘Accomplice’, the largest sculpture by the artist to date.
Since it will be landed in Indonesia’s largest Hindu temple complex built in the 9th century, the exhibition offers an exclusive experience of a thought-provoking pairing of ancient architecture with contemporary art.
This will also be the first exhibition of the giant “Accomplice” which is released in 2002 on vinyl figures throughout KAWS:HOLIDAY six-year world tour.
“KAWS: HOLIDAY INDONESIA invites fans from around the world to participate in this journey, unite with the birthplace of Javanese civilization, Yogyakarta, and explore the harmonious city that is full of vibrancy and cultural heritage,” read a press statement received by Tempo.
KAWS will also make its first visit to Indonesia and attend the opening on August 18, 2023. An entrance fee is required to enter the Prambanan Temple Tourism Park Complex. Check the AllRightsReserved Instagram account for the latest details and information.
