TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Jakarta-Bandung high-speed train (KCJB) is targeted to start operating in mid-August 2023, which coincides with Indonesia's 78th Independence Day on August 17.
Emir Monti, Communication Manager of the consortium responsible for the project PT Kereta Api Indonesia China (KCIC), confirmed that the company will conduct a soft launching for the bullet train’s operation in the early stage. This is aimed at introducing the public to the country’s new transportation mode that has a speed of up to 350 kilometers per hour.
“People can try the KCJB service from Halim to Padalarang, including trying the integration service of KCJB with Jabodebek LRT which connects the Halim KCJB Station to all Jabodebek LRT service stations as well as the Feeder Train that integrates KCJB Padalarang Station with Bandung and Cimahi KAI Stations,” Emir explained in a written statement on Thursday, June 8, 2023.
The introduction period of the train operation is planned to be implemented until September 2023. The procedures and registration schemes for the public to use the service are still under discussion and will be announced soon.
Emir also said that during the introduction period, the number of stations serving passengers will be limited and be opened in stages. The operation of the Jakarta-Bandung high-speed train will be then carried out normally in accordance with applicable regulations and provisions.
