TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Batik Air serves flights to South Korea from six cities in Indonesia, through Incheon International Airport (ICN). The cities include Medan from Kualanamu Airport, Jakarta from Soekarno-Hatta Airport, Yogyakarta from Yogyakarta International Airport (YIA), Surabaya via Juanda Airport, Bali’s I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport, and Makassar via Sultah Hasanuddin Airport.

“Business actors and travelers can choose one of the six cities to continue the flight to South Korea through Malaysia,” said the Corporate Communications Strategic of Batik Air, Danang Mandala Prihantoro, in a written statement received by Tempo on Thursday, April 6.

Batik Air serves international routes with the concept of transiting at Kuala Lumpur Airport (KUL), Malaysia. Then continue the flight using Batik Air Malaysia, with flight code OD, to South Korea.

Danand said that this route has the potential to strengthen the multilateral relationship between the three countries; Indonesia, Malaysia, and South Korea. In addition, it opens up more business, trade, and tourism opportunities.

The international route will also ease the tourists coming to Indonesia. Flights from South Korea and Kuala Lumpur to Indonesia will support the government program in boosting the number of international tourists.

In serving this route, Batik Air uses Boeing 737-800NG aircraft with 12 business classes and 150 economy classes. This fleet is the latest generation sent from the aircraft manufacturer. "This aircraft is equipped with free in-flight entertainment on demand, as well as entertainment that can be accessed from mobile and tablet devices supported by Tripper," said Danang.
