TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian Public Works and Housing (PUPR) Minister Basuki Hadimuljono said the average progress on the physical development in the new capital city or IKN Nusantara in East Kalimantan has now reached 25 percent.
“The average progress of the physical development is now 25 percent,” Basuki said at the Presidential Palace Complex, Jakarta, Wednesday, April 5.
The PUPR Ministry, he added, is building a number of infrastructures in IKN, including those in the Central Government Core Area (KIPP) such as the presidential office, presidential palace, offices for the four coordinating ministers, ministerial housing complex, toll roads, arterial roads, dams, Wastewater Treatment Plant (IPAL), waste treatment installation, drinking water treatment installation, and other infrastructure.
Basuki claimed that to date, the PUPR Ministry has implemented an adequate development monitoring system using information technology so that the realization of development is according to plan.
“This used to be the result of a competition called the Negara Rimba Nusa, what is it now? It's become like this,” said Basuki, while showing a description of the realization of the IKN construction and the map of investment opportunities.
With this development achievement, Basuki shared optimism that the government will be able to hold the independence day ceremony in the new capital city in August 2024. Basuki explained that President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) had also ordered him to detail the IKN map to ease the investors who are willing to build housing and other supporting facilities there.
