24 People Questioned in Pertamina Fuel Depot Fire Investigation

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian National Police have examined 24 people as the institution investigates the cause of the massive fire at the Pertamina Plumpang fuel depot, which is surrounded by a packed neighborhood.
"24 people have been questioned," said The National Police Spokesperson Brigadier General Ahmad Ramadhan at the Kramat Jati Police Hospital, East Jakarta, on March 9.
Ramadhan said the Plumpang fire case is still under investigation and that the status of those who were questioned has yet to be determined.
The 24 people come from the fuel depot’s operators, and security personnel, and there were also 14 local residents who were asked for their statements.
The deadly fire at the Pertamina fuel depot occurred on Friday evening of March 3, killing 19 people and displacing hundreds of others from the nearby neighborhood. Of the 19 victims, 15 bodies were taken to the Kramat Jati Police Hospital, East Jakarta. The Disaster Victim Police Team has succeeded in identifying all of the bodies.
