Police to Enforce One-Way Traffic Policy during Peak of Eid Homecoming

3 April 2023 13:05 WIB

TEMPO.CO, JakartaThe National Police planned to implement a one-way traffic system at the peak of the 2023 Eid homecoming flow which was predicted to be on April 19-21. Eid al-Fitr was estimated to fall on April 21.

“We will start applying the one-way system on April 18, from KM 72 to KM 414 [of the toll road],” said the Head of the National Police’s Public Relations Division, Inspector General Sandi Nugroho, as quoted from the official page of the National Police’s Traffic Management Center (NTMC) today, April 3.

The Police will also implement the traffic system for the return flow, which was estimated to be on April 24-25 and April 29-May 1. “The one-way system during return flow [will be applied] from KM 414 to KM 72.”

The police have mapped crucial points that have the potential to be congested, one of which is the Trans Java Toll Road, or precisely on the Cipali Toll Road. As for the Sumatra region, the congestion-prone point is estimated at Indralaya-Palembang.

The police are also anticipating arterial routes in Java that have the potential to cause traffic jams due to motorbikes and cars, as well as the potential for traffic accidents and security disturbances.

If a traffic jam occurs in a tourist area, the police will carry out traffic policies such as contraflow, one-way, and odd-even policies.

During this year’s Eid, the National Police will hold the Operasi Ketupat 2023. A total of 148,211 personnel will be deployed from the National Police Headquarters (1,240 personnel), the Regional Police (91,153 personnel), and other agencies (55,818 personnel).
