Bank Indonesia Prepares Rp195 Trillion in Cash for Ramadan and Eid Al-Fitr

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Bank Indonesia (BI) is preparing Rp 195 trillion in cash in preparation for the upcoming holy month of Ramadan and Eid Al-Fitr.
"Based on withdrawal plans by national banking sector, this year BI prepares cash for Ramadan and Eid Al-Fitr in the amount of Rp 195 trillion, which is 8.22 percent higher compared to last year," said Head of Money Management Department of Bank Indonesia Marlison Hakim in Jakarta on Monday, March 20, 2023.
Marlison said that Bank Indonesia has conducted a mapping for the activity, including plans made by the Indonesian banking industry and Bank Indonesia. Marlison added that the banking industry has committed to open 5,066 service points across Indonesian region, which is 8 percent higher compared to last year.
"This marks the banking industry's response to public mobilization, economic growth and people's needs," Marlison said.
In addition, Marlison said that the banking industry will provide integrated roving cash services in Jakarta and several regions. For the Jakarta, Bogor, Depok and Bekasi region, as many as 599 service points will be provided by 55 banks.
"The roving cash services will be provided in crowd center areas such as terminals, markets, we will do it together, also for this year we will be providing services in Rest Area KM 57," Marlison explained.
Marlison added that Bank Indonesia will also start to implement Bank Indonesia wholesale services through the banking industry in cooperation with Perbarindo (Association of Indonesian Rural Banks) and Aprindo (Association of Indonesian Retail Businesses).
