Jakarta Flood; West Jakarta's Tegal Alur Still Inundated Since Last Night

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Regional Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD) reported that Tegal Alur District of West Jakarta was still flooded as of 11:00 local time today, March 2. The height of the inundation in five neighborhood areas in the district ranges from 35 to 90 centimeters.
“Moderate to high-intensity rain shower most of Jakarta on Wednesday and Thursday, causing inundation in several areas,” said Jakarta BPBD head Isnawa Adji in a written statement, Thursday, March 2.
Isnawa explained that the flooding was triggered by heavy rainfall. The flooding in Tegal Alur started at 18:00 local time, Wednesday. Last night, four neighborhood areas were inundated by floodwater with a depth of 30 centimeters.
Three roads in West Jakarta were still flooded as well for more than six hours. While in fact, the city administration targeted to recede flooding within six hours.
Here are the three flooded roads in Tegal Alur, Kalideres:
- Jalan Kamal Raya at 20 centimeters high,
- Jalan Prepedan Raya at 30 centimeters high, and
- Jalan Menceng Raya, in front of SDN 02 Tegal Alur, at 30 centimeters high.
Isnawa emphasized that his side has mobilized personnel to monitor flooding across the capital. BPBD Jakarta also coordinated with related agencies and districts. “The inundation is targeted to recede rapidly,” he said.
