TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo has not yet received a letter of resignation from Youth and Sports Minister Zainudin Amali. The Golkar politician planned to step down from his position after being elected deputy chairman of the Indonesian Football Association or PSSI.
“There has been no letter submitted to State Secretary Minister (Pratikno) until now,” he said after attending the national coordination meeting on disaster mitigation in Jakarta, Thursday, March 2.
He also refused to reveal who will replace Amali. “We have not received the letter, how come there will be a replacement,” said the former governor of Jakarta.
On 20 February, the President met with the new PSSI management at the Jakarta Presidential Palace, including Sports Minister Zainudin Amali and SOE Minister Erick Thohir who was tapped as PSSI chairman. At that time, Amali said he had notified the state head again about his resignation plan.
Later, Jokowi confirmed that he had received Amali’s informal request. “Not official, written one yet,” he said in East Jakarta on Tuesday, February 21.
After Amali said he was ready to step down from his ministerial position, Golkar deputy chairman Nurdin Halid told Tempo on Wednesday that they have prepared three candidates. They are the chairman of Golkar Youth Force AMPG Ilham Permana, chairperson of the Golkar youth wing Indonesian Reform Youth Force (AMPI) Diro Ariotedjo, and member of the House of Representatives (DPR) Commission XI Puteri Komarudin.
