Govt Allocates Rp21 Trillion for 2024 General Elections

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati, in a Cabinet plenary meeting aired on the Presidential Secretariat’s Office Youtube channel, announced that the government will shell out Rp21.86 trillion from the State Budget for the 2024 general elections.
“The expense for the general election is hoped to maintain Indonesia’s economy from the global condition,” she said.
Minister Mulyani hopes that the increase in spending costs can reduce the high price of inflation and the economic slowdown of other countries. However, she explained, compared to the 2019 election of Rp25.59 trillion, the current allocation has decreased by Rp3.73 trillion, a decrease of 14.5 percent.
Apart from the general elections budget, she said, the government has prepared expenditures for the preparation of the New Capital City of Nusantara at Rp23.9 trillion, especially for infrastructure which is Rp21 trillion.
"Spending for food security is Rp104.2 trillion, social protection is Rp476 trillion, energy security is Rp341 trillion," said Sri Mulyani.
