Chinese New Year; Ancol to Hold Lunar Festival Presenting Underwater Barongsai

19 January 2023 16:04 WIB

TEMPO.CO, JakartaThe Ancol Dreamland Park is set to hold 'Ancol Lunar Festival' from January 21 to 25, to welcome the Chinese New Year 2574. The attractions include the traditional lion dance or Barongsai underwater and outside Sea World’s Main Aquarium.

During the Ancol Lunar Festival, we present a lot of special agenda related to Chinese New Year, one of which is the underwater Barongsai at Sea World Ancol,” said the park's management spokesman Ariyadi Eko Nugroho in North Jakarta, Wednesday, January 18, 2023.

Eko said the Barongsai will tell the story of the Goddess of the Moon and the Doctor of Rabbits which is according to the Chinese New Year 2023, the year of the water rabbit.

Six professional divers will present the performance bringing two Barongsai and one Liong. There will also be two Barongsai performances outside the aquarium.

Eko said the attraction will last for about 20 minutes, specifically on January 21, 22, 28, and 29, at 10:45 local time and 14:30 local time.

Apart from Sea World, Ancol will present a Grand Parade and other performances at Dunia Fantasi (Dufan), as well as Dragon and Mermaid performances at the Underwater Theater of Ocean Dream Samudra.

A total of 2,574 red envelopes or angpao containing interesting products will be given to every visitor who posts their moments when visiting Dufan on their respective social media accounts.

“Yes, it's true that in Dufan, aside from the Special Grand Parade, they will also hand out angpao, angpao trees. We have prepared lots of gifts for visitors coming to Dufan from January 21 to 27,” said Eko.

Ancol Dreamland Park also prepared entertainment events for visitors on the shores of Lagoon Beach on January 21 and 22, 2023. “In the afternoon, there will be Barongsai Meja and Liong, and live music on the beach in the evening until 10:00 pm,” said Eko.

Ancol park and beach areas are now open until 24:00 WIB. The ticket is priced at Rp25,000 per person. From January to March, purchasing four tickets via its official page www.ancol.com can get a 20 percent discount.
