TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Commander of the Indonesian Presidential Security Personnel (Paspampres) Marsda Wahyu Hidayat Sudjatmiko responded to questions about the sexual assault case that was allegedly committed by Maj. Infantry BF, which according to Wahyu, has officially been detained.
"We have detained him while we wait for the legal process to commence," said Wahyu on Friday, December 2, 2022.
According to Wahyu, the member involved will be summoned by the Military Police Command (POM TNI) for further legal processes. "Let the law determine whether he's guilty or not," Wahyu said.
As previously reported, the alleged sexual assault happened in mid-November in Bali as the security personnel was involved in the security mission of the G20 Summit. Tempo attempted to confirm the report to Wahyu but has not received any response.
However, National Armed Forces (TNI) Commander General Andika Perkasa confirmed that an officer of the Paspampres identified as BF has been alleged to commit rape against a female soldier.
Currently, Major BF has been named as a suspect and has been detained under the Military Police Command after undergoing interrogation in Makassar, South Sulawesi. The suspect currently faces charges that could see him fired from the military force.
