TEMPO.CO, JakartaActing Governor of Jakarta Heru Budi Hartono said the next year’s provincial 2023 minimum wage or UMP is still being calculated. He has yet to receive a report from the Jakarta Manpower, Transmigration, and Energy Agency.

“The official report from the Manpower Agency has not been submitted to me. It is still being discussed internally [by the agency],” said Heru Budi at Balairung City Hall, Central Jakarta, Thursday, November 24, 2022.

Heru Budi accompanied by Jakarta Secretariat’s Assistant for the Economy and Finance Sri Haryati and Jakarta Manpower Agency head Andri Yansyah met representatives of workers who were staging a demonstration, demanding a significant salary hike in front of the City Hall today.

He emphasized that the provincial government will refer to the Manpower Minister’s Regulation No. 18 of 2022 on the determination of the 2023 minimum wage in determining the figure.

The 2023 UMP will be announced next week, the Presidential Secretariat Head informed. “Maybe before November 28 or right on the 28th.”

The Jakarta Wage Council held a meeting on the provincial minimum wage on Tuesday, November 22, 2022. Representatives from employers, trade unions, and the city administration attended the meeting.

The Labor Union urged a 10.55% increase in the next year’s minimum wage to Rp5.1 million as referred to Jakarta's year-on-year (yoy) economic growth. Meanwhile, the Jakarta government, employers’ association Apindo, and the city’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) proposed lower rates at 5,6%, 5,11%, and 2,62% respectively.
