TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Jakarta provincial government has started administering the second booster of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) vaccine for the elderly today, November 23, 2022. The Health Agency’s head of the epidemiology surveillance and immunization unit, Ngabila Salama, said this followed the Health Ministry’s provision.
“Starting today, all existing vaccination services are in line with the provisions written in the Health Ministry’s circular,” said Ngabila in a text message to Tempo on Wednesday.
The Health Ministry’s Circular Number HK.02.02/C/5565/2022 stipulated that the second booster dose for the elderly or people aged 60 years and over could be administered in November 2022. People can get a second booster dose six months after having the first booster dose.
Ngabila mentioned that the second booster service is available in all Jakarta health facilities.
The Peak of COVID-19 Cases
The Health Agency head Widyastuti has also predicted that the peak of COVID-19 cases will occur at the end of November 2022 or early December. This prediction does not only apply to the capital city but also to all Indonesian regions.
Jakarta has recently detected some 2000 new infections per day. “Most of them undergo self-isolation because they have no symptoms or mild symptoms,” she said.
