Jakarta Acting Gov Focuses on Ciliwung River Normalization Program

9 November 2022 20:11 WIB

TEMPO.CO, JakartaActing Jakarta Governor Heru Budi Hartono said the Ciliwung River normalization program will be focused on Manggarai and South Jakarta areas.

“The normalization of the Ciliwung River [will be conducted in] Manggarai, South Jakarta,” said Heru Budi in Jakarta Regional Legislative Council (DPRD) on Wednesday, November 9, 2022.

However, he stopped short of revealing the construction time. He said that he had met with Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning Minister or the National Land Agency Head (ATR/BPN) Hadi Tjahjanto.

“If the payment is made immediately and is according to the existing Larap (land acquisition and resettlement action plan), [it will be started] immediately. Some [of the river areas] have already been normalized and only left some spots. As I’ve seen the map, some were green [meaning it’s been normalized], and some are red. I met with the ATR Minister yesterday,” he said.

Heru Budi is determined to complete the river normalization program along 4.8 kilometers during his time leading the capital. Heru has served as Acting Governor since October 17, 2022, and will lead the city for one year.

The former Presidential Secretariat head stated that he would focus on three problems, namely flood control, congestion, and city management.

One of his efforts is to continue the normalization program of the Ciliwung River which was inactivated during the era of governor Anies Baswedan.

The Jakarta government has even allocated a budget for land acquisition in the 2023 Jakarta Regional Budget (APBD) Draft. According to Heru, the value reaches Rp700 billion for land acquisition in four urban villages.
